Holton Grapplers Dominate on the Mat Capturing Burlington Invite Title

With the holiday break in the books winter sports action as gotten back to full swing and its happened for the Holton Wildcat wrestling squad in a big fashion as they dominated the action on the mat at the Burlington Invitational on Saturday.

Wildcats registered a team total of 228 points to secure a first place and the tournament crown, finishing 49 points better than the second place team (Prairie View 179 points). Holton competed against 20 teams with wrestlers competing at the Burlington Invitational.

Eight top four finishes were captured by Holton, half of those were first place finishes, with a pair of second places and a third and fourth place finish, also. Cooper Zeller, continues his great season on the mat winning yet another tournament heavyweight crown (285lbs) as he won in the championship via pinfall. Three other ranked wrestlers in Class 4A for Holton, also secured first place finishes with their stellar performances on the mat. Hunter Price (120lb), Andrew Rieschick (160lb) and Lane Lassiter (145lb) all won their respective weight classes.

A pair of second place finishes were won by Jonah Lutz (126lb), who has been ranked this season and freshman, Justin Rieschick who performed well in the 132lb weight class. Justin Pool (113lb) and Eli Dowd (106lb) each added a third and fourth place finish, respectively.

Holton continues their season on the mat at the Wabaunsee Invite this coming weekend (January 11-12th).
