The Washington County Tigers stepped on of Twin Valley League play and continued their strong performances on the volleyball court this season by taking home third place at the Concordia Volleyball Invite on Saturday.

Washington County opened the day in pool play where they finished second in the "White" pool finishing behind Beloit who beat the Tigers in three sets in pool play (25-13, 22-25, 25-20) to win the pool. The Tigers finished pool play 3-1, beating Southeast (27-25, 25-17), Riley County (25-15, 25-10) and Marysville (25-18, 25-14). Beloit beat Marysville (27-25, 25-17), Riley County (25-27, 25-22, 25-16) and Southeast (18-25, 25-21, 27-25). In other pool play games: Marysville beat Riley County (25-13, 25-21), Southeast beat Marysville (25-21, 27-25) and Riley County beat Southeast (26-24, 11-25, 25-21).

In the "Red" pool it was Clay Center winning the pool behind a 4-0 performance, beating Republic County (25-11, 25-17), Concordia (25-18, 25-16), Minneapolis (25-22, 25-18) and Smith Center (25-21, 25-18). The host of the tournament Concordia took second in the pool with wins over Minneapolis (25-27, 25-14, 25-22), Smith Center (7-25, 25-23, 26-24) and Republic County (25-16, 25-11). In other pool play games: Minneapolis beat Smith Center (25-19, 25-23), Smith Center beat Republic County (25-7, 25-20) and Minneapolis beat Republic County (25-21, 25-19).

With the semifinals set Washington County took on a tough Clay Center and fell 25-19, 27-25, while Beloit topped the host Concordia in the other Semifinal, 25-15, 25-19.

The Tigers would finish the day with a win beating Concordia 25-23, 25-15 to claim third place at the Concordia Invite, finishing the day with a 4-2 record.

Clay Center won the tournament beating Beloit 25-16, 25-18 in the Championship match.
