Hiawatha Powers Past Atchison in American Legion Contest

The Hiawatha Post 66 legion baseball team traveled to face Atchison Post 6 on Wednesday night and were able to come away with a 15-6 victory. 

Hiawatha trailed 2-1 after the first inning and then would take the lead in the second inning and never trailed the rest of the game. They scored in all but one inning which included six runs in the second and four runs in the sixth. 

Lucas Lancaster was named the McDonalds of Hiawatha and Seneca Player of the Game as he reached base three times with a double, single, walk, and three RBI's. 

JJ Lancaster had two hits including a double with two RBI's, Micah Oldham reached base three times and scored three runs, Cooper Wischropp had two hits and two RBI's, and Tagen Diller added an RBI triple. 

Atchison got two runs in the first inning off a single by Hank Julo and Yogi Purdy highlighted a two run third inning with an RBI triple. Purdy reached base in all three of his at bats with two hits and two runs scored. Rylan Holtgrave and Kolten Bonnel each had two hits and Matthew Spencer reached base twice. 

The winning pitcher for Hiawatha was Gannon Becker as he went five innings allowing five runs with seven strikeouts and three walks.
