KVA Releases Week Four Volleyball Rankings & Eight Area Teams Are Ranked

The volleyball season is in full force and has just a basically a month left including the State tournament. Teams continue their season with more League play and tournaments still looming before sub-state action, while KSHSAA has released sub-state assignments.

Kansas Volleyball Association has released its week four rankings and eight area teams are in the rankings this week with some change for the area teams in the rankings.

Class 4A-Division II continues to be highlighted for the area by a pair of Big Seven League teams in the Jeff West Tigers and Holton Wildcats. The Tigers fresh off a sweep of ACCHS in League play are 19-4 on the season and moved up one spot in the latest polls to #2. While the Holton Wildcats picked up a pair of League wins over Hiawatha in their latest contests and sit at 15-8 on the year but fell down two spots in the polls to #6 this week.

Nemaha Central continues to remain steadfast at #6 in the latest Class 3A KVA volleyball rankings. The Thunder split their recent action against rival Sabetha to move to 14-6 on the season.

While in Class 2A the Washington County Tigers suffered their first loss of the season falling to Centralia recently, but beat Wetmore the same night to move to 15-1 and also took over the #1 spot in 2A in the latest KVA rankings.

Class 1A-Division I houses the most area teams in the Top 10 of any classification in Kansas as Centralia and Valley Heights remain ranked and Immaculata joined them in the latest poll. The Panthers picked up wins over Washington County and Wetmore back on Tuesday and are in the drive seat for the Twin Valley League regular season title with a 21-1 overall record and undefeated League record and have remained ranked at #2 in the latest poll. For Valley Heights the Mustangs are 15-6 on the season after a pair of wins over Frankfort and Hanover on Tuesday and moved up two spots in the polls to #4. Immaculata joins the rankings for the first time this year after being reclassified to 1A, the Raiders are 18-6 on the year and split their most recent action falling to Valley Falls but beating Pleasant Ridge on Tuesday and come in at #7 in the rankings.

The Linn Bulldogs who have been ranked a majority of the season in 1A-DI move down to 1A-Division II and check in at #5 in the latest poll with their 19-9 record. Linn picked up a pair of wins on Tuesday beating Clifton-Clyde and Blue Valley-Randolph but also took a loss to Axtell on the same night.

Teams continue their season looking to set themselves up for a top spot in Sub-State play later on in October.
