The Sabetha Bluejays strong girl's tennis season continued on Tuesday afternoon as the Bluejays took second at the Immaculata Invitational behind a first place and three second place showings in competition.
The doubles tandem of Jena Winkler and Nicole Brey paced the Bluejays with a first place showing in doubles #2 competition, posting a 4-0 record on the day. Winkler and Brey notched a 8-3 win over KC Christian, while beating Immaculata 8-1, Maranatha 8-0 and won over Ottawa 8-1. In the doubles #1 competition the team of Jordyn Wells and Alexa Menold claimed a second place performance as they finished 3-1 on the day. Wells and Menold notched wins against Immaculata (8-0), Maranatha (8-1) and Ottawa 8-5, but fell to KC Christian in a highly contest matchup, falling 8-7 (9-7).
On the singles side of competition, Lexi Wenger and Courtney Plattner both took home second place performances after posting 3-1 record's on the day. Wenger in singles #1, picked up wins over Immaculata (8-0), Ottawa (8-0) and Maranatha (8-5), while falling to KC Christian 8-4. For Plattner she beat Immaculata 8-0 and won 8-2 over both Ottawa and Maranatha, while falling to KC Christian 8-5.
For the Bluejays they will look to continue to put together top notch showings on the tennis courts when they host a quad competition on their home courts on Monday, September 22nd.
