Holton Highlights Atchison Golf Invite With Second Place Team Finish

A slightly chilly Thursday didn't stop multiple teams taking to the course for some golf action at the Atchison Invitational with six area schools represented and 14 schools overall competing.

At the end of the day the Holton Wildcats paced the way for the area teams as they registered a second place team finish with a score of 328, just four strokes behind first place team in KC Piper. Kenton Tegethoff paced the Wildcats with an 80 on the day, while Ethan Holaday was just one stroke behind him shooting an 81. Braden Sides and Walker Degenhardt rounded out the Wildcats team score with rounds of 82 and 85, respectively. Garett Beecher and Parker Sides also competed for Holton putting up marks of 89 and 103 on the day.

Maur Hill-Mount Academy, Immaculata, Hiawatha, Atchison and Royal Valley all from the area also competed in action on the day at the Atchison Invitational.

For the Ravens they took ninth place as a team posting a team score of 370, just three strokes behind eight place and four strokes behind seventh as a team. Leading Maur Hill on the day was Christian Wessel with an 89 on the day, while Pat Sullivan, Canyon Miller and Drew Harris finished the Ravens team score with rounds of 91, 95 and 95. Both Skylar Busenbarrick and Kyle Mason each competed for Maur Hill, too registering rounds of 102 and 114, respectively.

Immaculata followed Maur Hill in the team standings taking tenth with a team score of 385 on the day, with their 4-Man team. Dawson Schroeder paced the Raiders with an 88 on the day, while Evin Wheaton notched a 92 and Ian Wheaton and Jacob Murphy both shot over 100, scoring 103 and 102 rounds.

Hiawatha Red Hawks placed twelfth on the day posting a team score of 411. Taylor Jacobsen led the Red Hawks as the only guy on the team to have a sub-100 score at the tournament posting a round of 95. Josh Sangrait, Jordan Ball and Isaiah Henry finished out the Red Hawks team score with rounds of 100, 106 and 110. Tom Nolte and Zach Perry also competed for Hiawatha registering rounds of 122 and 116, respectively.

Atchison finished thirteenth as a team with a score of 467 as Gabe Julo shot an 84 to highlight the Redmen's day. Jase Nelson had the second best score for Atchison on the day with a 115, while Dylon LeBlue, Dalton Bartlett, Katelyn Truman and Micah Dulac scored rounds of 133,135, 147 and 154.

For Royal Valley only three competitors were in action not allowing the Panthers to have a team for the competition and just play as individuals. Erich Wiedmann led the way with a 117 for the Panthers, while Andrew Henderson and Brandon Anderson each posted rounds of 132 and 139, respectively.
