Eudora 48, Holton 32
The Holton boys battled from behind most of the game and trailed by 8 points in the first quarter and 5 at halftime. Yet, with back to back treys by Garrett Beecher, the Cats took a 25-24 advantage and were trailing just 31-30 entering the fourth quarter. That is when the wheels fell off as Eudora went on a 12-0 run and Holton was held without a field goal in the final 8 minutes of the game. Holton shot just 20 percent for the contest before closing their season with a 17-6 record.
Beecher led the Cats with 14 points while fellow junior, Trey Tanking added 10. Holton graduates six seniors off this years team which fell just short of a fifth straight Big 7 League title, but qualified for state for the third time in five years under Coach Ryan West.
Eudora, now 18-5, moves into the semifinal Friday versus top seed, Andale. The cardinals got 18 points from Andrew Ballack, including 10 in the final frame and 6 of the Eudora 11 made free throws down the stretch to pull away.
