After great action around the State for sub-state basketball teams have punched their tickets to the State tournament and 14 area teams from the Twin Valley League, Big Seven and Northeast Kansas League are headed to State.

In Class 4A-DII the Holton Wildcat boys and girls are both headed to Hartman Arena in Park City to play in the State tournament. While the Santa Fe Trail girls are also headed to the State tournament, too. Santa Fe Trail will play Pratt in the four versus five matchup at 4:45pm on Wednesday March 12th. Holton girls will be the six seed and play Hugoton in the opening round at 8:15pm on Wednesday, while the boys play on Thursday in the as the five seed against Eudora the four seed at 4:45pm.

Class 3A the Nemaha Valley Raider boys and girls are both going to State, playing in Hutchinson at Hutchinson Community College. The boys will hit the court on Wednesday March 12th and be the three seed taking on Holcomb the six seed at 4:45pm. While the Lady Raiders will be the five seed and play on Thursday taking on Caney Valley the four seed.

In Class 2A the Jefferson County North Charger girls, Valley Falls Dragon boys and Washington County boys and girls are all headed to State. In the girls bracket in 2A action gets underway on Wednesday as Jefferson County North will be three seed to take on Hillsboro at 6:30pm and Washington County will be the three seed playing at 8:15pm against Ellis in the opening round. In the boy’s bracket, Valley Falls goes in as the two seed and will play on Thursday at 6:30pm against St. Mary's Colgan, while Washington County will be the eight seed and play at 3:00pm against St. John-Hudson. Class 2A action is in Manhattan at Bramlage Coliseum.

In 1A-Division I the Valley Heights Mustang boys and girls will represent the Twin Valley League at State, along with the Clifton-Clyde boys, too. Emporia will host 1A-DI State tournament again and on the boy’s side Valley Heights will be the three seed and take on Macksville at 8:15pm in the first round, while Clifton-Clyde will be the eight seed and play Marias Des Cygnes Valley at 3:00pm on Wednesday. On Thursday the lady Mustangs will play at 3:00pm as the two seed against Victoria.

The B&B Falcons girls and boys will represent the area in Class 1A-Division II in Hays at the State tournament at Gross Memorial Coliseum at Fort Hays State University. The B&B Falcon boys will be the six seed in the opening round of the State tournament and take on Fowler the three seed on Wednesday at 8:15pm. On Thursday the lady Falcons will play at 6:30pm as the number one seed at State and play Attica in the opening round.
