It was senior night for Hiawatha at the Roundhouse on Tuesday, but the ACCHS girls stole a one-point win before the Redhawks boys held on for a victory.

GIRLS = ACCHS 47, Hiawatha 46
Hiawatha jumped to a 19-10 led early in the second quarter, before the Tigers answered with an 8-0 run and kept the game close the rest of the night.  The Lady Redhawks led 23-19 at the break and tied the contest at 30-30 with a trey by Hossana Fortmeyer to start the fourth quarter.  The Tigers took their biggest lead of the game 41-37 midway through the final frame but Hiawatha stayed alive with a pair of trifecta's by Emily Bauer.  A free throw by Emily Gartner put the Hawks ahead 46-45 with :45 to play, but Rachel Newquist hit a pair of charity tosses to give the Tigers a 47-46 lead with :19 remaining.  Hiawatha turned the ball over on their final possession and then could not foul in the final :06 to get the ball back.  Gartner scored 22 after posting 32 and 31 points in the two games prior and Bauer sparkled on her senior night with 15 points, including four shots behind the arc.  Yet, Hiawatha lost their fifth straight game and is now 5-12 on the season with losses in 8 of their last 9 contests.  ACCHS was only 1-15 behind the three-point-line, but had more than 20 offensive rebounds and made 4 of 5 free thows in the final quarter to avenge an overtime loss at home to Hiawatha earlier this year.  Leah Sholtz posted a season high 16 points while Newquist added 11 and the Lady Tigers improved to 7-10 overall and matched the Hawks 3-7 record in Big 7 League play.

BOYS = Hiawatha 42, ACCHS 34
The game was tied 7-7 after one quarter, but Hiawatha started the second quarter on an 8-0 and never trailed again.  Leading 26-21 entering the final frame, the Hawks went on another 8-0 spurt for their biggest margin of the night (13 points).  Still, ACCHS came back to get within four points with a minute to play before Hiawatha made four final free throws to secure the win.  Conner Bigham, coming off a career-high 25 points in a win against Royal Valley, led the Redhawks with 13 points in his 15th double-figure scoring game of the season.  Conner Winters added 8 as Hiawatha improved to 5-2 in their last 7 games and is now 7-10 overall and 4-6 in league action.  ACCHS got 11 from Quentan Reichart before dropping to 0-17 with their second loss by single digits this season.
