Wrestlers Qualify for Nebraska State Tournament

 A handful of area high school wrestlers will compete in this week’s State Tournament in Omaha, following District Tournaments this past weekend.
 In Class B, both Falls City and Auburn will send two wrestlers to Omaha.
 The Tigers had two second-place finishers in the District at Syracuse. Sophomore Morgen Valentine finished second at 138-pounds, losing to Darin Sorenson of Nebraska City in the championship match. Junior Jeremy Zimmerman finished second ant 285-pounds, falling in the championship match to Syracuse junior Matt Clark.
 Auburn had a couple 4th place finishers, Dalton Shearer at 132-pounds and Nate Moran at 220-pounds.
 Gretna and Nebraska City tied for the team title with 183.5 points. Syracuse was 5th with 148; Auburn was 8th with 42.5 points; and Falls City was 9th with 38 points.

 In the Class C District at Malcolm, HTRS-Pawnee City had two wrestlers and Johnson County Central had one wrestler advance to state.
 For the Titans, freshman Jacob Wilhelm placed 4th at 106-pounds and junior Ben Railsback placed 3rd at 160-pounds.
 For JCC, senior Thomas Gerdes placed 3rd at 132-pounds.
 David City was the team champion at Malcolm, with 229.5 points. HTRS-Pawnee City finished 13th with 31 points and JCC was 15th with 24.5 points.

 The State Wrestling Tournament begins Thursday morning at CenturyLink Center in Omaha.
