Atchison, ACCHS & Royal Valley All Have Top Eight Finishers at Bobcat Wrestling Classic

Three area schools had wrestlers suit up on Saturday at the Bobcat Classic at Basehor-Linwood and five area wrestlers came home with top eight finishes on the day.

Leading the way with the best area performance of the day was Atchison Redman, Tyler Harris who took home second place by going 4-1 at 170lbs. Harris opened the day with a pair of pinfall wins in 1:51 and 32 seconds, then rattled off a pair of wins via decision, 9-6 and 4-3 to get to the championship bout. In the title bout Harris had to bow out due to injury giving him second place on the day. Atchison as a team finished 29th out of 30 teams.

The ACCHS Tigers finished 24th out of 30 teams but were led by a pair of top eight finishers with a fourth and seventh place showing. Scott Birkinsha (170lbs) put together a 5-2 record taking home fourth place on the day as he had a pair of pinfall wins, two decision wins and a win via a bye. Willy Dieckman (138lbs) took home seventh place after going 4-2 on the day with two decision wins, a major decision win and a pinfall win; Dieckman who his final match by a 2-1 decision to place seventh place.

Royal Valley only had a few wrestlers competing at the Bobcat Classic with the other at the Wabaunsee Invitational on Saturday, but the two Panthers at the Bobcat Classic each posted eighth place showings. Chance Ogden (170lbs) and Bryce Golightley (145lbs) posted 3-3 and 4-3 records to take home eight place performances.

While the top teams performances weren't there on Saturday for the area teams many individuals had solid showings at the Bobcat Classic.
