Finals Set for Mound City Invitational Basketball Tournament

 Mound City and Nodaway-Holt have advanced to the championship game of the Mound City Invitational Basketball Tournament.  

Top seed Nodaway-Holt got 24 points from Megan Rosenbohm Wednesday night in a 66-31 win over South Holt.  Emily Cox topped the 20-point plateau for the Knights in the loss.  

Mound City defeated Tarkio 51-42 in the other semi-final.  Kendey Eaton led three Lady Panthers in double figures with 13 points,  Emily Wedlock had 11 and Kenzie Ashford added 10.  Abby McEnaney led all scorers with 14 and Emily Graves scored 11 for Tarkio.

The Panthers and Trojans meet for the tournament title Friday night at 8 p-m.

Just like the girls side the top two seeds have advanced to the finals.  Top seed Mound City needed overtime to dispatch West Nodaway 51-47.  Luke Sanders scored 16 and Taylor Coker chipped in 11 for the Panthers.  Jaden Gillenwater led the Rockets with 21 points.  

Mound City scored only four field goals in the second half and overtime but made eight free throws.  The Rockets struggled at the line making just two of 15 for the game.

Rock Port advance to the finals with a 44-34 win over Nodaway-Holt.  Brady Minter had 14 and Jayden McMahon added 10.

Rock Port and Mound City meet for the tournament championship at 8 p-m Saturday evening. 

Thursday is the consolation semi-finals.  In girls action West Nodaway plays North Nodaway at 4:30;  Craig-Fairfax will take on Rock Port at 7:30.  In boys games it will be North Nodaway against Tarkio at 6 p-m with South Holt to take on Craig-Fairfax at 9 p-m.
