Garrett Borcher Named GPAC Defensive Player of Week

 The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce Doane College teammates Garrett Borcher and Justin Malleck have been selected as  players-of-the-week for games played on October 26, 2013.  Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2013-2014 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Doane College linebacker Garret Borcher is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Borcher, a sophomore from Pawnee City, Nebraska helped lead the Doane defense on Saturday in an upset win at No. 16 Concordia. He posted 10 total tackles, including five solo tackles on the afternoon with three tackles behind the line of scrimmage. The Tigers held Concordia to 88 rushing yards, more than 100 yards below their season average. 

Doane College’s Justin Malleck is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Special Teams Player-of-the-Week. Malleck, a junior from Indianola, Nebraska blocked a punt with the score tied 7-7 late in the first quarter, setting up Doane's go-ahead touchdown in the second quarter. He added two tackles on the day, including one behind the line of scrimmage.
