The final KVA volleyball rankings before postseason play commences have been released and this week nine area teams find themselves in the latest rankings with four new area teams ranked this week and one falling out of the rankings.

The Twin Valley League continues to house top flight teams in three different classifications with B&B, Centralia and Washington County; while Linn has jumped into the rankings, too.

The B&B Falcons remained number one in Class 1A-Division II finishing the regular season 34-3, winning their final matches on Tuesday of the season with wins over Linn and Valley Heights. Falcons over the weekend took second in the TVL tournament falling to Centralia in a tough three set battle on the court in the TVL championship contest, but did finish the regular season 13-0 in the league to win the regular season title. The back-to-back to Class 1A-DII State champs now turn their sights to Sub-State action on Saturday looking to return to the State competition to defend their state title.

The Centralia Panthers got the best of B&B in the TVL tournament getting back from a pair of losses to the Falcons earlier this season and winning TVL tournament in the process. Panthers capped off their regular season with straight wins over Wetmore and Axtell this past Tuesday to finish the regular season 31-5 and remained ranked number one in Class 1A-Division I. Centralia will now host Sub-State this coming weekend looking to get back to the state tournament a place they usually find themselves yearly.

The Linn Bulldogs made their second appearance into the latest rankings jumping into the number 10 spot in Class 1A-Division I, wrapping up the regular season with a 21-14 record. Bulldogs suffered a pair of loss in their final games of the regular season with losses to B&B and Valley Heights.

Washington County Tigers continued to remain ranked in Class 2A checking in at number four this week once more after wrapping up the regular with straight set wins over Hanover and Onaga to move to 29-7 on the season. The Tigers over the weekend took down Valley Heights to finish third in the TVL tournament at Baileyville and now travel to Mission Valley for Sub-State action.

One other area team continues to remain ranked in Class 2A this season and that is the Jefferson County North Chargers who remained ranked third finishing the regular season with a 31-8 record and a 16-0 mark in the Northeast Kansas League to win the initial league volleyball title. The Chargers eye a return to the state tournament as they prepare for Sub-State action on Saturday, playing in the Valley Falls Sub-State.

Class 3A an area team as final jumped into the rankings this season and that is the Marysville Bulldogs who capped off their regular season with 28-12 record after going 6-0 at the Sabetha Invite over the weekend to capture that tournament crown. The Bulldogs gear up for Sub-State action this weekend set to travel to Minneapolis on Saturday for action.

In Class 4A-Division II the Santa Fe Trail Chargers have been there all year and this week jump up one spot to number one after finishing the regular season 33-4 and 16-0 in the Big Seven League to win the league title. The Chargers will travel to Prairie View this Saturday for Sub-State action as Class 4A sub-state's will only feature four teams this year with the split into two divisions.

Big Seven teams, Perry Lecompton and Holton joined Santa Fe Trail this week in the Class 4A-Division II rankings both jumping into the rankings for the first time this year. The Kaws finished off the regular season with a pair of non-league wins over Bishop Seabury and Tonganoxie last week to finish with a 23-13 record, headed into Sub-State and are ranked eighth in the latest poll. The Holton Wildcats check in at number 10 this week finishing off the regular season with a third place performance at the Sabetha Invite over the weekend to move to 21-14 on the season.

Perry Lecompton will host their Sub-State on Saturday and Holton will travel to Clay Center for postseason Sub-State action.

Teams have worked through the regular season and set themselves up for postseason play and its win or go home time with Sub-State action as teams look for a state tournament bid this Saturday.
