Senior, Kyrstie Miller Takes Fourth at State to Lead Holton Girls Golf Team Performance

Looking to cap off a strong season the Holton girls golf team took to the course Monday (October 21st) in the Class 4A State competition and had one huge performance by senior, Kyrstie Miller who lead the way for the Wildcats on the day placing fourth individually.

Miller who had qualified for the State competition the last two years, finishing 20th last year as a junior and second as a sophomore, finished off her high school golf career with a fourth place finish behind a round of 85, which was one-stroke behind third place and seven off first. Kyrstie posted a 39 on the front and was only one of three gals to go under 40 on the front of the course, but put up a 46 on the back half to fall slightly off pace to fall back to fourth.

Senior, Miller lead the charge for the Wildcats as they finished 11th as team out of 12 teams competing at the State competition in Class 4A, posting a team score of 436.

Sophomore, Anne Bowser notched the second highest individual performance by the Wildcats posting a round of 110 to place 50th in the competition out of 93 competitors. The four remaining Holton lady Wildcat golfers posted finishes of 68th, 71st, 73rd and 80th on the day. Sophomore, Quinn Holaday notched a round of 119 to take 68th, with senior, Sam Herring following in 71st place with a 122 on the day. Junior, Hannah Deegan was one-stroke behind Sam with a round of 123 to place 73rd, while sophomore, Maddie Foster put up a round of 131 to take home 80th place.

Only one other golfer from the area competed at the State competition and that was Jeff West Tiger junior, Allie Deiter who put together a round of 108 to place 48th.

The season came to an end with the dream of playing at the State competition realized by area competitors as they capped off their stellar season's with a performance at the State tournament.
