Falls City, JCC, Win Team Titles at Falls City Cross Country Invitational

(KTNC) - The Falls City girls and Johnson County Central Boys were the team champions of the Falls City Cross Country meet Thursday.

Falls City and Mid-Buchanan tied for first in the girls’ team standings with 25 points, but Falls City won the meet on a tiebreaker.  Mound City was third in girls’ team standings with 33 points. 

Mound City’s Kendey Eaton was the individual winner, in 20:02.  Melissa Davidson of Auburn was 4th in a time of 20:28  Lainey Larson was the first Falls City runner across the finish line, in 7th place, with a time of 22:09.  Falls City runners held down the 9th through 11th places, with Krystal Samqua 9th, Cheyenne Dovel 10th, and Lauren Bierman 11th.  Joeigh Eaton of Mound City was 12th, Morgan Roberts of Falls City was 13th and two Rock Port runners – Montana Martin and Hannah Mace rounded out the top-15.

JCC had four runners in the top-10 to win the boys team race with 18 points.  Falls City edged Auburn by two points for second.  Falls City had 43 points and Auburn 45.  Mid-Buchanan, DeKalb, and West Nodaway rounded out the team standings.

Samuel Salvidar of JCC was the individual champion with a time of 17:13.  Dakota Groves of Auburn was second in 17:17, Kyle Leafty of Falls City was third in 17:25, Aaron Johnson of JCC was fourth, and Alex Menninga of Pawnee City rounded out the top five.

Others earning individual medals with top-15 finishes were Tyler Jones of Rock Port in 6th place, Brandon Gibson of Falls City 7th, Garrett Hamilton and Wyatt DeRoe of JCC in 8th and 9th respectively, Auburn’s Tyler Barker 11th, Spenser Sullivan of JCC in 12th, Tyler Barker of JCC in 13th, and Chris Davison of Auburn in 14th place.

Runners from 10 schools competed in Thursday’s meet.
