The football season hits week five and four area teams continue to dominate the latest football rankings across the state as Holton, Centralia-Wetmore, B&B and Hanover continue to be the cream of the crop in their respective classifications.

The 8-Man Division II level is perhaps the most intriguing set of rankings across the state because the top team differs in a few polls. The B&B Falcons who crushed another opponent this past week winning 66-20 over Caldwell improving to 3-1 are ranked number one by Kansasprepfootball.com and Kpreps.com. While, Hanover Wildcats who had a bye week last week are 3-0 this season and are ranked number one by VarsityKansas and the Topeka Capital Journal. The Falcons and Wildcats are number two in the polls they are not number one. Falcons open up district play this week against a tough 3-1 Axtell Eagles team, while Hanover plays Wallace County a top five team in 8-Man Division II at Natoma this week.

Axtell with their 3-1 record for the last few weeks have been receiving votes in rankings across the state, while Blue Valley-Randolph who is off to a 4-0 start is garnering attention, also in the 8-Man Division II ranks.

In the 8-Man Division I level the Clifton-Clyde Eagles at 3-1 this season continue to receive votes in polls across the state.

Class 2-1A, perhaps houses one of the more dominate teams in the state in the Centralia-Wetmore Panthers who remained unbeaten on the season cruising past Onaga this past week 64-7, this moving them to 4-0 and keeping the on the perch at the top of 2-1A. The Panthers have only allowed that one touchdown on the season with the JV in at the time. Panthers continue to be the unanimous number one across all the polls and look to try and win their 15th straight TVL 11-man title when they play Valley Heights this week.

The Cobras of Jackson Heights have been on the map the last few weeks and continue to receive votes in 2-1A polls as they are off to a 4-0 start this season.

Class 3A is the only classification that area teams belong, too that doesn't have a team ranked in the top five and hasn't all season. But that doesn't mean area teams aren't performing well and catching people's eyes as Hiawatha, Nemaha Valley and Riverside all continue to receive votes in polls. The Red Hawks are fresh off a 12-10 loss to Holton, a game in which they almost won after leading 10-0 in the game; Hiawatha is 2-2 on the season. The Raiders are off to a 3-1 start this year and just a couple of points shy of being unbeaten, while Riverside is unbeaten on the season at 4-0 after beating Troy 34-6 last week.

In 4A the Holton Wildcats remain atop the rankings after improving to 4-0 on the season with a 12-10 win over Hiawatha but the win didn't come easy. Wildcats were down 10-0 in the second half but managed the comeback and grabbed the win to remain unbeaten on the season. One other Big Seven League team has remained unbeaten on the season so far, also as the Jeff West Tigers are 4-0 beating Santa Fe Trail recently and the Tigers start has them receiving votes in polls.

As week five approaches the four area teams ranked look to continue their success, while the others garnering attention look for staple win and more success to break into the polls, next week.
