After a 21-day layoff from action the Holton Wildcat girl’s golf team took to the course at Council Grove and beat out eight other teams to capture a team first place finish for the first time this season, just in their third competition of the year.

The Wildcats worked past Anderson County and Rossville who were their strongest competitors on the day finishing five and six strokes back as a team of Holton. Wildcats tallied a 200 even score as a team as senior, Kyrstie Miller lead the way for Holton taking home a individual performance of second place by shooting a 42 on the day, two strokes off of first place.

Her teammates, senior, Sam Herring and sophomore, Anne Bowser took home top 15 finishes also on the day as Herring shot a 50 to notch a tenth place finish and Bowser was one stroke behind with a round of 51 to take home 11th place.

The team score for the Wildcats was rounded out by a round of 57 which sophomore, Quinn Holaday and junior, Paige DeLay both registered on the day. Junior, Hannah Deegan, also competed for the Wildcats on the day posting a round of 60, better than 21 other competitors at the Council Grove Invite.

Time off was no problem for the Wildcats as they continued to stride along in the season, registering their first, first place finish on the season. Holton now turns their attention to a quick turnaround as they will head to Village Greens for the Jeff West Invite coming up on Monday, September 30th at 9:00am.
