As the volleyball season is in full swing a pair of area teams traveled to Rossville for tournament action over the weekend competing in the Rossville Invitational. It was the Holton Wildcats and Oskaloosa Bears competing in the action at Rossville.

Of the two area teams competing it was the Holton Wildcats highlighting the competition as they finished with a 2-3 record in competition on the day taking home sixth place. Holton went through pool play going 2-2 in their four contests, notching wins over Wichita-Collegiate (25-22, 25-17) and Rossville (25-17, 25-17). The Wildcats fell in their matches against Clay Center and Ottawa (25-17, 25-21). Wildcats did push Clay Center to three sets taking set number two after losing the opening set (25-16, 25-27, 25-17). Holton wrapped up the day vying for fifth place taking on Towanda-Circle, Wildcats fell in straight sets (25-13, 25-15) to end their day 2-3 and a sixth place finish.

For Oskaloosa it was a struggle on the day as they were in the opposite pool from Holton and squared off with Abilene, Towanda-Circle, Tonganoxie and Wamego in pool play action. The Bears wrapped up the day going 0-4 in action falling in straight sets in all four competitions. Oskaloosa's closest match came against Towanda-Circle falling 25-16, 25-16 in that matchup. Against Abilene it was the Bears falling 25-4, 25-3, while Wamego topped Oskaloosa 25-2, 25-7 and Tonganoxie won 25-14, 25-6 over the Bears.

Both teams now turn their attention back to league play in the upcoming week after another tournament in the books this season.
