Highland Gets Blasted by #3 Butler
By Mike Smith

The Highland Scotties knew it would be a tough task on Saturday when the third ranked team in NJCAA came to town in the Butler Grizzles. The Grizzles took control of the game early on the road and never looked back against the Scotties.

Butler put up double figure points in every quarter on their way to a 61-0 rout of Highland. Everything was in favor of the Grizzles as they outgained the Scotties 458 total yards to 73 total yards, while it was 31-3 in first downs. The hardship didn't stop their for the Scotties unfortunately as they had four turnovers in the game, along with struggling overall on offense.

Grizzles quarterback, Billy Cosh threw for 119 yards, while both Dreamius Smith and Ty Suggs rushed for 120 plus yards each. Smith had three touchdown runs, Suggs with two and Terry Allen registered one touchdown run, too.

Specials teams was a highlight for Bulter, also as former Centralia Panther, Michael Glatzcak got some playing time as a freshman and busted off a 75 yard touchdown run.

For the Scotties they were lead by Brian Handley who tallied the most yards for Highland with only 29 yards rushing. Marwin Evans and Jake Swalley had a decent defensive day, as Evans grabbed two interceptions and Swalley registered 1.5 sacks on the day for Highland.

With the loss Highland fell to 1-2 on the season and 1-1 in the Jayhawk Conference. The #3 ranked Butler squad improved to 4-0 on the season with the win and 3-0 in conference play. Up next for the Scotties will Hutchinson at home on Saturday September 29th at 1:00pm. Butler will play host to Air Force Prep that same day at 7:00pm.
