Creighton Brinker & Ashley Annan End High School Career in KBCA All-Star Games

It was a pair of action packed matchups at this year's KBCA annual basketball All-Star at Washburn University featuring top senior basketball stars from across the state.

Two of those stars hail from the Kanzaland area in Nemaha Valley Raider, Creighton Brinker and Sabetha Bluejay, Ashley Annan who both officially ended their high school careers last night as part of the All-Star contests on the hardwood at Lee Arena. Both, Brinker and Annan ended up on the losing side of each game but made an impact in some capacity of for their team.

In the girl’s competition, it was defensive struggle throughout the contest with the Blue team coming out on top 58-55 over the White team in which Annan played on. White team led 29-26 at the half but were outscored by six in the second half to fall in the contest. Ashley didn't score in the contest, not attempting a shot in the contest but grab a pair of rebounds and nabbed a steal, also on the night while playing 13 minutes on the night. Annan now turns her attention to her education as she while continue her education at Kansas State University next year.

For, Brinker he was part of an instant classic KBCA All-Star game as the boys contest went late into the night needing two extra periods to decide the winner. Ultimately it was the White team coming out on top with a 114-108 double overtime victory over the Blue team in which Brinker played on. Creighton who will be continuing his basketball career at Cloud County Community College this year, started the game for the Blue team and played the third most minutes at 24. In the loss, the Nemaha Valley Raider was 4-14 from the floor, 1-2 from three-point land and 2-2 from the free throw line, finishing with 12 points. On top of his 12 points, he grabbed eight rebounds and had one assist.

Both, Brinker and Annan head to college this coming year with plenty of great memories during their high school careers that will be forever remembered.
