Peru State Softball Players Receive Conference Honors

 The Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) recently announced their 2013 Softball Awards. Four Peru State Bobcat softball players were among the honorees.

Kristen Bodyk (Paris, Ontario, Canada) earned HAAC First Team All-Conference for the second straight year. Emily Maresh (Central City) and Lauren Johnson (Seward) were named to the second team. Earning honorable mention recognition was Traci Bohlmeyer (Fairbury).

Bodyk was the Bobcats' shortstop for the past three seasons.  She has a batting average of .337, getting 30 hits from 89 at bats.  Bodyk has six doubles, two triples, six home runs, scored 20 runs, and drove in 27.

This was Maresh's fourth straight year of earning a post-season honor for softball.   Presently, Maresh is batting .337, garnering 34 hits on 101 attempts.  On the season, she has eight doubles, two triples, four home runs, and is leading the Bobcats with 30 RBI.

Johnson earned her first recognition as a Bobcat.  This season, Johnson was Peru State's top pitcher and currently has nine wins on the year.  Johnson has a 3.88 earned run average and threw 14 complete games.

In her first season as a Bobcat, Bohlmeyer had led the team in hitting during most of the season.  The second baseman currently has a .291 batting average, doing so by getting 32 hits on 110 attempts.   Bohlmeyer had one double, one triple, and drove in five runs.  Her fielding percentage is .936 and is a team leader with eight stolen bases.
