Nemaha Valley's Creighton Brinker and Sabetha's Ashley Annan to Play in KBCA All-Star Game

A pair of senior Big Seven League basketball stars will be featured in this years Kansas Basketball Coaches Association (KBCA) All-Star on August 7th at Lee Arena on the campus of Washburn University.

Nemaha Valley Raider, Creighton Brinker and Sabetha Bluejay, Ashley Annan have both been selected to participate in this year's All-Star game put on by the KBCA, both after enjoying great years with their teams and great overall careers.

For, Brinker he helped the Raiders to a 24-2 record this season making the state tournament for the sixth straight time for the Raiders and this year capturing a third place finish after dispatching Silver Lake 60-47 in the third place game with Creighton chipping in 15 points and 14 rebounds. Brinkers performances were solid all throughout state as he posted 18 points in the first round win over Wichita-Independent (53-47 win) and posted nine points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the semifinal loss to Scott City (50-38).

Creighton this season garnered multilpe honors including multiple first team All-Class 3A honors from different outlets, while being named first team All-Big Seven, also. On top of the Raiders run to state, Creighton and his teammates won a share of the Big Seven League for the second straight year, while also winning their home tournament the Raiders Classic.

He was a game changer all season to the tune of 14.9 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 2.4 spg and 3.1 bpg, while shooting 58% from the floor. His 14.9 ppg and 3.1 bpg averages were tops in the Big Seven this season and his steals and field goal percentage both ranked sixth in the league.

Brinker finishes his Nemaha Valley career making a big impact on the program, continue the Raiders basketball history.

For, Annan she helped the lady Bluejays get to the Class 3A state tournament for the first time since 2004 with a win over Nemaha Valley in the sub-state title game, 45-39, as she posted 18 points in the game. The Bluejays went into the state tournament as the eighth seed and fell to the eventaully state champs, Burlington but gave them their toughest game of the state tournament taking them to the wire in a 48-46 thriller. Ashley lead the Bluejays in the loss with 19 points against Burlington.

The Bluejays finished the seaosn 17-7 with plenty of great performances all year and many at the hands of the senior, Annan as she lead the Big Seven in points per game (14.1) and field goal percentage (58.4%). Ashley nearly averaged a double-double on the season posting 9.4 rpg for the Bluejays.

Highlights on the year didn't stop with the state run as Sabetha also captured a third place finish in the Burlington Invitational.

Annan finishes her Sabetha career providing an impact to be remembered for the Bluejays and helping the Bluejays soar to great heights.
