Hewins' Record Night Propels Cyclones to Victory at JCN

Riverside freshman Charles Hewins made his mark at the varsity level right away.

On Friday night at Jefferson County North, Hewins set a Riverside school record with 339 rushing yards and four touchdowns, helping the Cyclones rally for a 41-28 victory over the Chargers.

Riverside trailed 22-13 at halftime before turning things around in the second half, outscoring Jefferson County North 28-6 to complete the comeback.

Hewins carried the ball 26 times, with touchdown runs of 34, 3, 29 and 19 yards. He nearly added another score, but a 61-yard touchdown run was wiped out by a penalty.

It was a record-setting performance from the freshman and one that put Hewins firmly in the spotlight as one of our Athletes of the Week.
