Silver Lake Back to State to Defend Title

For the 21st time in school history, the Silver Lake Volleyball team is heading to the state tournament, but it wasn't easy as the Eagles had to outlast league foes, Jefferson West and Perry-Lecompton, both in 3 sets

In the sub-state semifinals, Silver Lake used the energy from their home crowd to help them through a tough 1st set that the Eagles won vs Jeff West, 29-27. The Tigers roared back to take set two, 25-22, but Silver Lake pulled out a 25-15 third set to advance to the Substate Final. Jeff West ended their season at 23-16.

In the second Semifinal of the day at Silver Lake, Perry-Lecompton cruised past Royal Valley 25-18, 25-11 ending the Panther season at 29-11.

In the championship match, Perry-Lecompton came out swinging to win the first set 25-21 over Silver Lake, but the Eagles responded, taking set two, 25-23, and set three, 25-20 to advance to state, ending the Kaws season at 27-13.

Silver Lake, the defending 3A state champs, has won 21 of their last 23 matches and take a 34-7 record into pool play on Friday at the 3A State tournament in Hutchinson as the Eagles look to win an 11th state championship.
