Nemaha Central wins Nemaha Volleyball Invitational

The Nemaha Central Thunder won the Nemaha Volleyball Invitational this weekend. The Thunder went a perfect 8-0 in sets during pool play, sweeping Tonganoxie, Marysville, Atchison and NEK. 

Atchison went just 1-3 in pool play, beating NEK, they didn't make it to bracket play. 

In the other pool, Hanover finished second, going 3-1, sweeping Sabetha and Hiawatha in straight sets, beating Maranatha in 3 sets, but losing to Rock Creek in 3 sets. Sabetha finished 0-4 in pool play. Hiawatha went 1-3, beating Sabetha in 3 sets, but being swept in all their other contests. 

Only Hanover and Nemaha Central made it out to bracket play, and from there, the two met in the semifinals, with Nemaha Central winning in 3 sets. Hanover took on Marysville in the 3rd place game, beating them in straight sets to take the bronze. 

The Thunder took on Rock Creek in the championship game, defeating them in 3 sets. On the season, the Thunder are now 10-4. Hiawatha is 1-12, Sabetha is 1-13. Atchison moves to 3-5 on the season. Hanover goes to 6-4 on the year.  

Coach Koch for the Thunder also surpassed 800 career victories as a head volleyball coach, so congrats to Coach as well!
