Holton Sweeps Big East Tri

The Holton volleyball team opened Big East League play on Tuesday night with a sweep over Perry-Lecompton and Jefferson West. 

The Wildcats (5-3, 2-0) began the night with a 2-0 sweep (25-21, 25-15) over Perry-Lecompton. Holton scored seven of the last 10 against the Kaws in set one while they led 13-8 middle of set two and never looked back. 

The second matchup featured the Kaws and Jefferson West, and it was the Tigers coming away with a 2-0 sweep (27-25, 25-19) over Perry. The Kaws had an opportunity to take set one, but a couple of service errors near the end proved to be the difference. The Kaws jumped out to an early 8-5 lead in set two, but the Tigers would rally to complete the sweep. 

The final match of the evening featured Jeff West and Holton, and it was the Wildcats coming away with the 2-0 sweep (25-16, 25-21). After the Tigers (1-1, 1-1) scored the first point of set one, the Wildcats would follow by scoring 13 straight points to roll in set one. Jeff West jumped out to an early 9-3 lead in set two, but couldn't hold on in the end.
