Riley County Volleyball Leads Area Squads with Third-Place Finish at Marysville Tournament

The Riley County volleyball team led the area squads Saturday at the Marysville Tournament, earning a third-place finish.

The Falcons went 5-1 overall, with their only loss coming to Eudora in the semifinals. Riley County picked up pool-play victories over Valley Heights, Holton, Sabetha, and Concordia before defeating Holton again in the third-place match.

Holton finished fourth with a 3-3 record, earning wins over Concordia, Valley Heights, and Sabetha.

Valley Heights and Nemaha Central both finished the day 2-2. The Mustangs picked up wins over Sabetha and Concordia, while the Thunder defeated Cheney and Marysville.

Clay Center ultimately claimed the tournament championship, defeating Eudora in the title match.
