Silver Lake Girls Golf Opens Season with Jefferson West Invitational Title

The Silver Lake girls golf team opened the 2026 season in impressive fashion Thursday, winning the Jefferson West Invitational at Forbes Golf Course.

The nine-hole tournament saw the Eagles capture the team title with a score of 181, finishing 12 strokes ahead of runner-up Jefferson West.

Silver Lake also claimed the top two individual spots. Zara Nilsson carded a 39 to capture the individual championship, while teammate Avenley Head finished runner-up with a 42.

The Eagles added two more top-10 finishes, as Savanah Wende and Addy Just tied for ninth with rounds of 50.

Jefferson West finished second as a team with a 193. The Tigers were led by Addison Fechter, who placed third individually with a 44. June Klenk tied for fifth with a 47, while Kinley Harr finished seventh with a 48.

Rossville placed third with a team score of 202. Elley Sanders led the Bulldogs with a 47, tying for fifth, while Maya Donovan finished eighth with a 49.

Nemaha Central finished fourth with a 213 and was led by Alexys Lewis, who tied for 12th with a 52.

Osage City finished fifth with a 214, followed by St. Marys in sixth with a 230, Wellsville in seventh with a 240, and Santa Fe Trail in eighth with a 289.
