Kanyon Olberding

Area track teams were in action last Tuesday at Royal Valley and while their strong performances across the board, perhaps none were more impressive than what Jackson Heights’ Kanyon Olberding put forth.

Olberding won three events on the day including the 200-meter dash along with the long jump and triple jump.

It has been a big year for Olberding as earlier this season she set the school record in the triple jump with a leap of 35’2.25” while finishing in the top five of each event she has been in.

She is seeing her first action at the high school level as a sophomore, after last season was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Olberding will look to continue her strong start to the season Tuesday afternoon as Jackson Heights is set to host an invitational beginning at 3 p.m.
