Connor Anderson

Over the weekend the Perry Lecompton boys’ basketball team placed at the state tournament for the first time since 1980 as the Kaws finished third taking down Hays-TMP 57-49 in the third place game.

A major key to the success of Perry Lecompton last week was senior Conner Anderson, who averaged 17 points per game at state.

Anderson opened up the tournament with 13 points and 13 rebounds in the Kaws opening round win over Larned, and followed that up with 27 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks in Perry’s semifinal loss to Beloit.

In the third place game he continued to lead the Kaws, scoring 12 points while grabbing six rebounds as Perry took down Hays-TMP.

On the season Anderson averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds and was recently named an honorable mention all-Big 7 league selection.

Anderson and the Kaws made history this season finishing with 22 wins and the first placing at state since the 1980 season.
