Marysville Bulldog, Gabe Pieschl Off to Hot Start On the Basketball Court
Gabe Pieschl

Marysville Bulldogs boys basketball team entered the 2016-17 season with plenty of optimism with many key returns and plenty of athletes and have gotten off to a strong start to the year posting a 4-0 mark and jumping to the #1 ranking in the latest Class 3A Kansas Basketball Coaches Association rankings.

Helping lead the charge this year was the return of junior, Gabe Pieschl who as a sophomore lit up the scoreboard with plenty of points and this year he has picked up where he left off. Last week Gabe poured in 38 points against Concordia in a 61-44 win for Marysville. He got things rolling early with 13 of the teams 17 points in the first quarter and notched 12 more points in the second quarter to have 25 of his 38 by halftime. While 38 points is his season best Gabe also notched 20 points in a win at Sabetha and 21 points in a win against Axtell this season.

Through the first four games of the season Gabe is averaging 20.3 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game, 3.5 steals per game and one assists per game while staying hot from the floor shooting 53.5% from the floor and 88% from the free throw.

The Bulldogs are off to a strong start and getting plenty of notice in the rankings across the State and behind the play of Pieschl and his teammates look to continue their strong play into the second half of the season.
