Brandi Jo Roepke

She busted onto the scene in the Twin Valley League last year with a vengeance and quickly developed into one of the best players on the court night in and night out, that’s Valley Heights Mustangs sophomore, Brandi Jo Roepke.

Roepke and the Mustangs are off to a 5-0 start to the season headed into the holiday break under first year head coach, Jenny Yungeberg scoring 61.4 ppg, with JoJo accounting for 42% of that offense on a given night.

The sophomore has pushed her scoring up from 19 ppg last year to a blistering 25.8 ppg through the first five games this season, leading her team in every game thus far this year. Brandi put up 22 points in a 42-33 win over a 2A playoff team from last year in Republic County, as the sophomore and her teammate Sidney Blackburn accounted for 38 of the teams 42 points in the win.

Valley Heights took to the floor one more time before the holiday and faced off in the battle of the Mustangs against Doniphan West in a TVL matchup and registered win number five on the season, notching the 64-42 win with Roepke leading the way with 26 points.

Roepke opened the season with her Mustang teammates taking down Centralia 58-41 at home, as she posted 27 points. Mustangs followed that win up cruising to wins over St. Xavier, 73-15 and Flint Hills Christian, 70-7 as Brandi tallied 28 and 26 points, respectively in the wins.

The young Mustangs squad missed out on a trip to the State tournament by a game last year but have their sights set on finishing atop the TVL again this season and punching their ticket to the State tournament and Roepke will be a key cog in that success as she continues to showcase her ability as perhaps one of the best players in the state.
