Local Teams Compete in Nebraska Boys State Tournament This Weekend

 The Nebraska Boys State Basketball Tournament begins today in Lincoln.  

Area teams involved in the State Tournament include Falls City Sacred Heart and Sterling in class D2,  Johnson-Brock in Class D1 and the Freeman Falcons in Class C2.

You will be able to hear the Johnson-Brock Eagles take on the top seeded Howells – Dodge Jaguars in Class D1 action beginning at 6:40 p-m this evening on SUNNY 101.3.  For the Eagles it is the third straight year they have been in the State Tournament.  

Opponents looking at the Eagles 12-14 record might be in for a shock if they overlook Johnson-Brock according to Coach Nick Krenk.  ( play audio :30 seconds ) 

In Class D2 action tonight Falls City Sacred Heart is the third seed and ranked 4th in D2 while Sterling is seeded 6th and ranked 3rd.  It will be the fourth matchup of the season between the Pioneer Conference foes.

Sacred Heart has a two games to one advantage over the Jets but Sterling won the previous game by one point.  Coach Matt Markowski talked about the keys for his team to win tonight.  ( play audio  :28 seconds )
