The Silver Lake softball team had an incredible game against the Thunder with a hit in every inning and a run recorded in five of the seven to win the first and only game in the match-up 10-0.

It was all zeros on the board until the second inning when the Eagles would score three runs off three hits and two fielding errors by the Thunder. Paige Heiman would record her first two RBIs and first run scored in the second inning after getting on base with a single.

The dominance continued early as Kendra Cook had seven strikeouts in just the first four innings for the Eagles. Cook’s fastball had nothing but heat on it today.

Silver Lake also led off the first three innings with a hit, and in the third inning, Taylor Zordel launched a bomb out to left field for a solo shot home run for her only hit of the game.

Silver Lake was up 7-0 by the sixth inning and added three more runs in the seventh to come to the game’s final score of 10-0. Kendra Cook for Silver Lake went all seven innings with zero runs, two walks, four hits, and nine strikeouts. Meanwhile, the Eagles offense produced twelve hits and ten runs.

The junior Paige Heimen had by far the best day for the Eagles, going three of four at bat with two singles and a double. Heimen also scored three runs herself and had four RBIs.

A star did shine from the Thunder with freshman Kennedy McKee recording a multi-hit game with two singles.

Nemaha Central finished the game with no runs, four hits, five errors, and five left on base.

The Eagles stay undefeated now 5-0 both overall and in the Big East, while Nemaha Central falls to just 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the league.

The second game of the doubleheader was canceled.
