Centralia girls basketball coach Dusty Thompson has been named the Sports in Kansas 1A-I Coach of the Year. 

Thompson led the Panthers to an undefeated season capturing the 1A-I State Championship for the first time since 2016. 

The Panthers were a dominant force all season as they played a difficult schedule with the TVL mixed in with the non-league opponents. 

They went 8-0 against 2A and 3A teams while also going 6-0 against teams who played in state championship games. 

They only had one game in the regular season where an opponent kept the final score within 10 points which was a nine point win against St. Marys in their second game of the season. 

In three seasons at Centralia, Thompson has compiled an overall record of 62-13.
