The Holton Wildcats softball team rallied from two down in the sixth inning to defeat the Royal Valley Panthers 11-8 in game one of their doubleheader on Thursday afternoon.
Holton led 3-0 after three innings thanks to RBI's by Kennedy Smith and Tinley Wilson.
Royal Valley only had one hit through the first three innings but they tied the game in the fourth inning with the big hit coming from Samantha Klotz with a two RBI single.
The Panthers would take their first lead of the game in the fifth inning at 4-3 thanks to a hit from Madison Blackwood and an error by the Holton defense which allowed the go ahead run to score.
Holton's offense saved their best for the last two innings scoring three runs in the fifth and five more runs in the sixth.
They entered the sixth inning down two but led by three going into the seventh inning and Wilson was able to retire the side to secure the win for Holton.
For Holton, Madison Hawthorne reached base three times and scored three runs, Jacy Cook had two hits and three RBI's, and Alexa Warner had three singles and three stolen bases.
For Royal Valley, Samantha Klotz had two hits and four RBI's, Sofie Liggatt reached base four times including an RBI triple, and Ainsley Morrison reached base three times and scored two runs.
