It's the Giant Communications and JBN Telephone Company ROAD TO GLORY presented by Giant Mobile.

3A Girls Championship: Silver Lake 45, Halstead 48

For three quarters, it was Silver Lake that kept the Dragons at arms length but things changed once we got to the fourth quarter.

A couple crucial late turnovers led to some easy baskets for Halstead and they would ultimately outscore the Eagles 15-6 in the final frame to stop the Eagles from winning their second straight title.

Silver Lake finished with 13 turnovers that led to 19 points for the Dragons. Halstead only turned the ball over six times in the game.

For Halstead, it was their first championship in school history while some of their players were part of the state title during the volleyball season in the fall.

Jordy Schroeder led the way for the Dragons with 16 points and three rebounds, Addisen Wills scored nine points and added six rebounds while Kaci Young finished with eight points.

Silver Lake was led by Kailyn Hanni with 19 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Hanni's right corner three at the end of the game came up short which would have sent the game to overtime.

Karys Deiter scored 13 points, all in the first half while adding six rebounds.

Silver Lake shot 39% from the field and 3-of-15 from three while connecting on 14-of-18 free throws.

Halstead shot 36% from the field and were just 3-of-19 from three while connecting on 13-of-18 free throws.

Silver Lake's season ends with a record of 23-3 while Halstead wins the title and finishes at 25-1.
