Giant Communications and JBN Telephone Company ROAD TO GLORY presented by Giant Mobile on the MSC Sports Radio Network.

2A Girls Quarterfinal in Manhattan = Pitt Colgan 41, Valley Heights 37

It was a tight defensive game from start to finish before Pitt Colgan pulled away with a 13-7 fourth quarter and made 6 of 7 free throws down the stretch too secure the win against Valley Heights. The Mustangs trailed 20-16 at halftime but took a 30-28 advantage into the final period and led 32-30 before four straight empty possessions on three-point shots. One of the key stats was rebounding as the Panthers had a 22-14 advantage and 8-1 edge on the offensive glass. Second chance points were 10-0 in favor of Colgan who improved to 22-2 on the season.

Jakayla Davis came in averaging 27 points per game but was held in check by Mia Vermetten with just 12 points going into the fourth quarter. Davis finished by making four free throws in the final minute to score 17 points while Mariah Harris was a force inside with 12 points.

Valley Heights was led by Ava Smith and Lindsay Gray with 9 points each while Vermetten had 7 and Josie Parker and Anne Toerber each scored all six of their points in the third quarter when Valley Heights took back the lead. The Lady Mustangs end the season 16-9 with their fifth state trip in the past two years and will be a factor next season losing just two seniors in Toerber and Tessa Miller.

Final lineup presented by Sabetha Auto Parts and Atchison Auto Parts your local NAPA dealers.
