Holton Earns Sweep at Perry-Lecompton

The Holton basketball teams earned a Big East league sweep on Tuesday night at Perry-Lecompton. 

Girls: Holton 50, Perry-Lecompton 46 

Both teams couldn't get much going on offense in the first quarter with the Wildcats leading the game 8-5 after the first eight minutes. 

The Kaws (1-4, 0-2) would outscore Holton (2-2, 1-0) 16-15 in the second quarter and Holton's lead was two points at the half. 

Perry-Lecompton got to within one point going into the fourth quarter but the Wildcats were able to hold on for the win. 

Brooke Willcott led Holton with a game high 20 points while Elizabeth Schuster finished the game with 13 points. 

The Kaws were led by two freshman in Kaelyn Metcalfe and Emmy Reed. Metcalfe finished with 17 points while Reed finished with 13 points. 

Boys: Holton 50, Perry-Lecompton 44

The Kaws (1-4, 0-2) jumped out quickly as they led 9-2 early in the first quarter and forced the Wildcats to take an early timeout. 

After that timeout, the Wildcats (1-3, 1-0) came storming back and would lead the Kaws 22-14 at the end of the first quarter. 

The two teams were fairly even in the second quarter and Holton would lead the game by 11 at halftime. 

The Kaws ramped up the defense in the third quarter and held the Wildcats to just four points as the score was 40-36 going into the fourth quarter. 

Holton was able to outscore the Kaws 10-8 in the fourth quarter to hold on for their first win of the season. 

Holton was led by Brayden Peek with 12 points while Korben Fox finished with 10 points. 

Perry-Lecompton was led by Marius Carlsen who finished with a game high 20 points and they also got 14 points from Koltyn Kaniper.
