Movement in Latest KBCA Rankings Despite Postponed Games

The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association has released another edition of rankings ahead of mid-season tournaments.

Nemaha Central stays at number six in Class 3A after no games being played in the last week. The Thunder girls get back in action this Friday against Marysville.

Riverside remains the top dog in Class 2A as the Cyclones get ready for the McLouth Invitational on Thursday. They are the top seed in the tournament.

Maur Hill-Mount Academy secures its highest ranking of the season as Luke Noll’s team comes into the week ranked number eight. The Ravens also travel to McLouth to take on Bishop Ward in the first round of the tournament.

Valley Heights drops a couple of spots to number nine in Class 2A. The Mustangs fell to Class 3A #4 Rossville by a substantial margin for their first loss of the season. The start their Twin Valley League tournament with a quarterfinal game versus Linn on Thursday.

In Class 1A-DI, Clifton-Clyde stays at number two. They take on Axtell in the TVL tournament quarterfinals. Frankfort also doesn’t move in the rankings with the Wildcats checking in at number four. They are also the four-seed in the TVL tournament where they will play Hanover in the quarterfinals. Centralia moves up a spot to number six despite not playing since January 5th. They are the three-seed in the TVL tournament, where they will take on the winner of Doniphan West and Blue Valley-Randolph.

In Class 1A-DII, Hanover is up one spot to number two after defeating Onaga in the first round of the TVL tournament. Linn stays at number eight after beating Troy in the first round of the tournament. They are the ten-seed in the tightly contested field of 12.

For the boys, Atchison stays ranked number three in Class 4A as they hope for a deep run in the Tonganoxie Tournament this week.

Marysville drops to number nine in Class 3A. The Bulldogs are going to face Jackson Heights in the first round of the Thunder Class on Wednesday.

In Class 1A-DI, Clifton-Clyde remains perfect and moves up to number four. The Eagles will take on Frankfort in the TVL Tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday.

In Class 1A-DII, Hanover leapfrogged Axtell with the Wildcats up to number three in the rankings. Axtell drops to number four.
