Sports in Kansas have released their 2023 football player of the year finalists for all classifications on offense and defense.
Offensive player of the year finalists in our area include: QB Trey Carter (Sr. Atchison - 4A), QB Carter Hajek (So. Nemaha Central - 2A), OL Holden Bass (Sr. Nemaha Central - 2A), QB Carson Spoonts (Sr. Valley Heights - 1A), QB Grady Noll (Sr. Jefferson County North - 1A), RB Trent Long (Sr. Clifton-Clyde - 8M-I), QB Brandon Schmelzle (Jr. Axtell - 8M-II), QB Wes Anderson (So. Frankfort - 8M-II), and ATH Eli Broxterman (Jr. Axtell - 8M-II).
Defensive player of the year finalists in our area include: DL Dalton Rousch (Sr. Holton - 3A), DL Holden Bass (Sr. Nemaha Central - 2A), LB Abram Keim (Jr. Nemaha Central - 2A), DE Christian McAfee (Sr. Sabetha - 2A), DL RB Tweed (Sr. Jefferson County North - 1A), DB Connor Keirns (Sr. Jefferson County North - 1A), Eli Broxterman (Jr. Axtell - 8M-II), and Brandon Schmelzle (Jr. Axtell - 8M-II).
The coach of the year finalists were announced earlier in the week. Winners are set to be announced on Dec. 2nd and 3rd.
