The Silver Lake girls basketball team used a monster second quarter run to cruise past Santa Fe Trail 72-41 in the first round of the 3A State Tournament in Hutchinson.
Santa Fe Trail (21-3) started off strong on both ends of the floor and led the Eagles 13-9 going into the second quarter.
Silver Lake (23-1) would explode for 32 second quarter points and went from down four to up 20 at halftime at 41-21. That was more than enough as Silver Lake was able to coast the rest of the way to advance.
Silver Lake was led by KNZA player of the game McKinley Kruger as she finished with 20 points, six rebounds and four assists. She hit four three's in the second quarter.
Kailyn Hanni added 14 points and four assists while Makenzie McDaniel added 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
The Eagles outrebounded the Chargers 41-31, outscored the Chargers in the paint 32-16 and won the bench production at 27-10.
Silver Lake advances to the Class 3A Semi-Finals on Friday in Hutchinson as they'll face defending State Champions Goodland in a rematch of last year's semi-finals.
