Big 7 League All-League Baseball and Softball Selections Announced

Big 7 All-League Selections – Baseball & Softball

The spring sports season is winding down with just state tournaments left for baseball and softball and with that the Big 7 League is the first to release postseason awards.

On the softball side the first team all-league selections were dominated by the league champion Holton Wildcats who had five selections with Gracie Gallagher and Sadie Walker each at pitcher, Brooke Flewelling as an infielder, Timber Wilson at catcher and Grace Utz as a utility player.

Perry Lecompton took second in the league with just one first team selection in Taylor Damme who earned a spot as an outfielder.

Nemaha Central added two first team players in Taryn Ganstrom as an infielder and Sam Nordus as a utility player.

Jeff West and Sabetha were the only other schools with multiple selections as the Tigers Rachel Cloud earned an outfield spot and Mallory Young on the infield while the Lady Jays Melinna Schumann earned an outfield spot and Laura Edelman on the infield.

Hiawatha and Royal Valley round out the all-league softball honors as the Redhawks Callyn Pavlish was named a utility player and the Panthers’ Karlie Albright at catcher.

As to the baseball selections they were dominated by Nemaha Central who captured the league title earning five first team selections with Gage Palic and Brayden Uphaus at pitcher, Dalton Huerter in the outfield, and Landen Baker along with Tyler Gerety on the infield.

Holton added three more first team selections as Blake Mulroy and Matt Lierz earned spots on the infield while Kyle Bohnenkemper earned a nod at catcher.

Jeff West added three selections of their own with Luke Dickey at pitcher, Kaden Stones on the infield and Preston Gibson at catcher.

Royal Valley and Sabetha rounded out the first team with two selections each as the Panthers Cooper Daugherty was selected at outfield and Brady Klotz at utility, while the Bluejays Darrin Funk earned an outfielder spot and Drew Schmelzle at utility.
