12 Area Girls Qualify for Sub-State Wrestling

Postseason wrestling continued over the weekend as regional tournaments took place for girls and several area athletes earned tickets to sub-state tournaments coming up next weekend.

The Holton Lady Cats finished fourth as a team and qualified three girls for sub-state next week after Macey Gross claimed a regional title at 126 pounds while Piper Robinson was second at 109 and Gracie Gallagher fourth at 138.

Sabetha added two more girls to the sub-state meet next week after Irish Rokey finished fourth at 132 pounds while Kylie Meredith was second at 235.

The Jeff West girls add two more to sub-state qualifiers and a pair of third finishers with Tamberlynn Pulsipher at 120 pounds and Jada Anderson at 143.

ACCHS rounded out schools with multiple sub-state qualifiers after Tannah Forbes took second at 191 pounds and Hannah Simmers fourth at 155.

Qualifiers were rounded out by Atchison, Royal Valley and Oskaloosa as the Lady Red had Carissa Smith take fourth at 170 pounds, the Panthers Maya Ogden first at 138 and the Bears Allison King first at 155.

These qualifiers now get set for the sub-state meet which is scheduled to be held at Anderson County High School next Friday, February 19 beginning at 3 p.m.
