CLASS 1A

Jackson Heights (4-4) at Olpe (8-0)

It's a rematch from just a few weeks ago when Olpe won at Jackson Heights 35-0. The Eagles are ranked #1 and haven't lost this year, pitching five shutouts, including four straight games. They had a bye as a top seed last week and have won all their games by at least 35 minus a 13-7 triumph against Lyndon.

Jackson Heights was dominant last Friday beating Central Heights 26-0 as Dylan Thompson had a huge night with 262 yards rushing and the Cobras snapped a three-game losing skid. Jason Bosley returned on defense for JH last week and could play some offense this week after missing the first meeting against the Eagles due to injury.

Winner of this game likely faces Uniontown (5-4), who will play Northeast Arma who advanced by covid forfeit.

Wabaunsee (4-5) at Centralia (7-1)

It's another regular season rematch as Centralia thumped Wabausee 60-20 just a couple week ago. In that game for the Panthers, Devon Feldkamp and Ian Haverkamp each topped 200 yards rushing and combined for seven touchdowns. Feldkamp has 1,242 yards and 15 touchdowns this season and Haverkamp has 808 yards and 15 scores as well. Centralia hasn't lost since week one against Rossville and since that allowed only eight points per game.

While Centralia had a bye last week, Wabaunsee won their first playoff game since 1983 with a 62-18 victory against Pleasanton. Quarterback Cade Oliver has had a great year for the passing Chargers throwing for 2,046 yards and 20 touchdowns.

The winner of this game faces the winner of our next game between

Jeff County North (7-2) at Lyndon (7-2)

Lyndon is led by Luke Detwelier with 784 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season while QB Darian Massey has thrown for 1,004 and 18 scores. Meanwhile, Jefferson Co. North is led by Landon Gutschenritter’s 1,131 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns while also catching 5 TD passes from Blake Fowler, who’s thrown for 892 yards and 13 scores. Gutschenritter rushed for 221 yards and six scores in last week’s 72-0 JCN win over Northern Heights.

Both teams beat Horton and Central Heights and both teams lost to Centralia. Lyndon has beaten JCN each of the last two years, albeit by a total of 15 points.

8-MAN DIVISION ONE

Little River (7-2) at Clifton Clyde (7-1)

This is a rematch from an overtime game back in week two this season when CC rallied for a 42-36 win. The Eagles only loss this year came in another added make up game by 20 points against Hanover. Little River also fell in week five to top ranked and unbeaten, Canton Galva.

Aiden Rudolph has run for 920 yards and 24 touchdowns this season to lead Clifton Clyde. Little River has been led by Jayden Garrison with 852 rushing yards and 21 scores while passing for 347.

The winner of this game faces Sedan (9-0) or Chase County (7-2) next.

8-MAN DIVISION TWO

Axtell (7-2) at Hanover (7-0)

Another Twin Valley League rematch in the post season for a second straight season. These teams met in week five with the Wildcats winning 62-12 and avenging a couple tough losses against Axtell a year ago. Hanover is undefeated and has won every game by at least 45 except the 20-point victory against Clifton Clyde. Axtell has had a couple tough injuries this year on the line following their 11-win campaign that concluded in the title game.

Hanover got five TD passes from Jacob Jueneman in last Friday’s 56-6 rout of defending champion Osborne to start the playoffs. Axtell rallied from down 40-20 with three minutes left against Thunder Ridge to take a 42-40 victory. Sophomore quarterback Isaac Detweiler has thrown for 1,788 yards and 31 touchdowns with Mitchell Buessing grabbing 49 passes for 911 yards and 15 scores.

The winner advances to face Colony Crest (9-0) or Hartford (6-3).

Frankfort (5-1) at Beloit St. John (7-2)

After not playing for three weeks to conclude the regular season, Frankfort looked great last week in a 59-34 route of Lakeside. Frankfort hasn't lost since an eight-point-setback against TVL foe Washington County to start this season. Gavin Cornelison has run for 555 yards and 8 TDs and thrown for 498 yards and 11 TDs. Ethan Armstrong has 627 yards rushing with 12 trips to the endzone.

Beloit-St. John’s started the season 0-2, but has won seven straight. Junior Jaret Eitzmann completed 59 of 103 passes for 837 yards with 11 scores against eight interceptions. Senior Brayden Perez has 141 carries for 1,145 yards and 23 touchdowns, but the Blueajays do have 17 turnovers this season.

Frankfort has beaten BSJ twice in 2017 and most recently in 2018 by a 54-20 score. The winner of this game gets Lebo (9-0) or Waverly (5-3) in the quarterfinals next week.
