It’s week one of the 2019 college football season for the Kansas State Wildcats and with that head coach Chris Klieman released the first official depth chart of the season and four Northeast Kansas kids made the cut for this Saturday’s opening game.

Former Horton Charger and K-State captain Trey Dishon is slated to start for the Cats at defensive tackle, while former Atchison Redmen Wykeen Gill Jr. has earned a week one start at receiver.

Dishon is entering his senior season with the Wildcats and has started in 36 games coming off a junior campaign in which he recorded a career-high 26 tackles with 2.0 tackles for loss and a pass breakup.

Gill Jr. is back for his redshirt junior season after appearing in 10 games a season ago where he caught seven passes for 54 yards which included a start against Kansas where he recorded three catches for 22 yards.

Klieman also listed Maur Hill-Mount Academy standout and former Louisville Cardinal Harry Trotter as the teams second running back, while Holton’s Mason Barta will be the teams second fullback.

Trotter is entering his junior season for the Cats after transferring from Louisville where he played in nine games in 2017 recording four rushes for 27 yards and a 13-yard kickoff return which came against Wake Forrest.

Barta meanwhile enters his redshirt sophomore season after playing in all 12 games last year primarily on special teams and in short yardage situations. He helped lead the Wildcats to a third-place finish in rushing yards per game a season ago with a 182.6 yard per game average.

The Cats are set to open the season this Saturday hosting Nichols at Bill Snyder Family Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 and live coverage on 103.9 KNZA.
