2019 KVA Preseason Volleyball - Rankings
The 2019 high school volleyball season is officially set to kickoff for most area teams on Saturday and with that the Kansas Volleyball Association has released the preseason rankings heading into the year.
Class 3A features the most area teams with three teams inside of the top 10 led by Royal Valley who will start the season off ranked second following a perfect 17-0 Big 7 League record a season ago and an overall record of 35-4.
Holton and Nemaha Central round out the 3A rankings with the Wildcats checking in at No. 7 after going 30-12 last season while the Thunder are No. 10 after a 37-9 record in 2018 which ended at the 3A State Tournament.
Two more area teams will start the season ranked in Class 2A with Valley Heights at No. 6 after reaching the state tournament a season ago with a 23-21 record while Jefferson County North is right behind at No. 7 after a 25-8 season a year ago and falling to the Mustangs in the sub-state championship.
The final ranked area team comes in Class 1A in the three-time defending state champion Centralia who will start the season ranked No. 1 and riding a current 80 match win streak after a perfect 47-0 record last season.
