Sabetha Golf Claims Big 7 League Title

2019 Big 7 League Golf – Results

The golf season rolled along Friday afternoon for area Big 7 League teams competing for the league title at Hiawatha and it was the defending state champion Sabetha Bluejays claiming the title.

Sabetha won the league crown by 23 strokes over Nemaha Central with three guys inside of the top eight. The Big 7 League individual title was claimed by Jesse Burger who let the way shooting a 75, while fellow Bluejay David Pierson was right behind in second with an 80. Carson Ukele rounded out the day with a seventh place finish shooting a 92, while Marcus Frunk was five strokes behind with a 97.

The Thunder took second place with three guys inside of the top eight as well, led by Dalton Schmelzle who shot an 87 to take third while Eric Hammes took fourth with an 88 and Hunter Feldkamp eighth with a 95.

The final spots in the top eight came from Holton, as the Wildcats had Ryan Taylor and Drew Morris finish back-to-back in sixth and seventh places shooting an 89 and 90, respectively.
