Marysville was the only Northeast Kansas League team in action on Tuesday night continuing their legion baseball season at home against Fairbury (NE) and picked up the 13-4 win in five innings.

After Fairbury opened up the scoring in the top of the first inning with a run Marysville had a quick and big answer in the bottom of the first plating six runs. A Derek Roever double, Storm Slupianek single and Fairbury error all led to runs for Marysville in the top of the first and control of the contest leading 6-1 after one inning. Fairbury attempted to get back into the game scoring a run in the second and another in the fourth to make it a three-run contest but Marysville put things out of reach in the bottom of the fourth by scoring five runs. In the fifth Fairbury managed another run but two more runs by Marysville on a Jayton Haggard home run finished the game in the bottom of the fifth as Marysville won 13-4.

Marysville used a 12-hit attack to produce 13 runs and took advantage of four Fairbury errors. Haggard and Owen Nietfeld each led the offense with two hits on the night, while Slupianek was strong on the mound tossing four innings for the win giving up three runs on five hits and a walk. Haggard tossed the final inning to finish the contest.

The win moves Marysville to 13-5 on the season and they continue the season on Friday when they host Seneca for a League doubleheader.
